Hey what's up guys! If you're reading this right now, you're probably wondering how to export your minecraft map, whether it's just for a cool desktop background, or you're going to make a youtube short film series with it. The process is actually REALLY simple. So here we go!
Before we start, I should probably stress the fact that in order to create a MAD render of your world, you need a 3D program, such as Maya, Cinema 4D, Blender, 3DS Max.. Etc. I am using Cinema 4D r14. You will also need Mineways to actually capture your world blocks you want to render.. It's free, don't trip.
Search for a place you want to export!
Now load up Mineways and RIGHT CLICK AND DRAG until the selection (the purple box) covers the area you want to export.
Now, to export your selection go to: File -> Export For Rendering.
Don't touch any of the settings.. Just press OK, okay?
Wonderful! So now we have a brand new .OBJ file! Now go ahead and open up your 3D modeling program.. In this istance, I used Cinema 4D, simply because I am more used to this program. Keep in mind, Maya tends to be more towards animating, and it can be a little more user friendly when it comes to animating characters!
Just import the scene file..!
Okay! So now we have the part of the world that we selected! But... it seems like we have even more than 50 shades of gray.. Let's get some textures on this!
Click on a material and press CTRL+A to select them all.
Make sure you turn off specularity on all of the materials!
Now go ahead and load this texture file. MAKE SURE IT SAYS RGBA.
So this looks cool and all.. But we need to add the actual alpha map, otherwise we'll have those black parts around the grass and flowers. To do this, we need to add the alpha channel!
Go to the Alpha channel, turn it on, and load this file!
Make sure you turn "Image Alpha" off if you're on C4D, otherwise you'll still get the black edges.
And there you have it! Play around with the lightning, sky, magic.. etc!
